It appears the lady in this scene has just dealt the fatal blow, and by the looks on the man's face, he knows it! This is a gorgeous and endearing piece, with flowing folds of porcelain "Dresden lace" on the lady's gown and fringing the man's cuffs. Set upon a white, gold-gilded rococo base, this scene also features a small flower pot with hand-sculpted porcelain petals. This piece is stunningly detailed. There is a tiny bit of damage to the lace on the back of the lady's dress in 3 areas. The price has been discounted due to the damage. This is one of two chess game porcelain figural groupings in our collection. The other, produced by Volkstedt, can be found here.
