This butter dish (base only) is decorated with the antique Meakin china pattern "Newark". The smooth gold trimmed edge encloses a blue wave patterned background. Laying atop the background are baskets of purple and magenta flowers that are surrounded by scroll work. The underside of the butter dish is stamped in blue "Newark J. & G. Meakin Hanley England".
