This exquisite collectible plate made by Lenox, is a lovely natural scene encircled by an intricate gold rim. Not only is the edge rimmed in gold, there is then a thin gold ring which is followed by a thick circle of gilt patterning with flora and fauna brought to life by the artists brush. These concentric circles are brought to a close by the final gold ring that lies right on the center edge of the rim, and it frames the scene which is the focus of the dish. Vibrant reds were boldly used to render the precocious buds and blossoms of the flora at the center of the plate, while various verdant shades were employed to enliven the surrounding fauna. One tiny bird is crouched in the corner his deep brown feathers contrasting with the pale tawny of his underside; yet the true spectacle is the black throated blue warbler landing amongst the flowers. The life-like positions of his head, wings, and legs all evoke the delicate flutterings and cautious movements of such a delicate yet quietly majestic little animal. The underside of the dish is stamped in gold: "L " surrounded by laurels, and "Lenox Black Throated Blue Warbler Lenox Inc. 1980 Made in U.S.A."
