This special collectors plate, commemorating Mors Dag or Mothers Day 1971, was made by the famous Royal Copenhagen china manufacturers. Produced through a process developed in 1895, the beautiful figure of mother, daughter, and treasured family pets, was realized first from an original watercolor painting and then applied with various shades of blue underglaze before the final firing. Due to the fragile nature of the molds, only a limited number of each design can be produced each year. Yet this plate in perfect condition, with its whimsical scrolling along the edge and the happy familial pair, would make a charming addition to any collection. The underside of the piece is stamped in dark blue: "Royal Copenhagen" encircling a crown, and underneath also in dark blue: "Denmark"
