This is an elaborately designed centerpiece that is certain to draw attention wherever it is placed! The bowl is lined on its rim by four cherub (or "putti") figurines. The piece measures approximately 6-3/5" at its highest point, by 10" at its widest.
Along the outer wall of the bowl, in between each putti pair, are nestled gorgeous colorful bouquets of hand-sculpted, hand-painted, hard porcelain flowers. The bowl itself is elegantly molded, with a beaded and indented rim that is painted in gold. Gold bows and wreaths can be found above each floral boquet. Beautiful rococo floral designs are painted inside the bowl, complementing their three-dimensional counterparts adorning the outer aspects. The puttis are draped in green and voilet "cloth" that seems to flow as smoothly and softly as real fabric.
The piece is in good condition, with a chip on one tip of the petal of the blue rose, and tiny chips to the 3 other flower sites. The cherubs' fingers and toes are all intact. Pictures are available upon requst defining the damage. This piece dates to the early 20th century, and is one of the finest works of the von Schierholz factory located in Plau, Thuringia, Germany.
