This is a lovely scene by the Unterweissbach porcelain factory in Germany, dating to the mid 20th century. A woman is seated upon a luxurious green couch, and her little dog seems to be leaping at her from her lap. She is draped in volumnious folds of fine "Dresden lace," dotted with colorful hand-sculpted hard paste flowers. Many of the features of the piece are hand-painted, including the details of her face, her hair, and the patterns of her dress and the couch. This is a fine example of the beautiful work that has made German figural sculptures such sought-after pieces, both fifty years ago and today!
