This is an incredibly ornate handled fruit bowl, produced around the turn of the century by the Potschappel factory (Carl Thieme) of Germany. A stunning example of genuine Dresden porcelain, every inch of this piece is sculpted, painted or otherwise adorned with exquisite detail. In the rococo revivalist style, gold gilt scrolls and scallops swirl about the piece, giving it a remarkable sense of depth and movement. The edges are pierced with carefully cut designs that add further texture and elegance. The exterior is embellished with handsculpted porcelain flowers, vibrantly colored and carefully painted to portray a striking realism. The interior is handpainted with colorful floral designs characteristic of most genuine Dresden pieces. The piece is in nearly mint condition and would make a remarkable addition to even the most discriminating collection.
