This is a lovely cabinet quality cup and saucer set, whose amorous feel is expressed eloquently in the curves of its heart shaped handles. The foot of the cup, rising and falling in a wave-like pattern, accented with gold, mirrors the flowing rim of the saucer. Both pieces are handpainted with the exquisite, colorful detail that defined the "Dresden" style in the late 1800s. The pieces bear the stamp of Richard Klemm, one of the first decorating studios operating in Dresden that revived the famous rococo style of decorative painting.
