This bisque piano baby was probably produced in Germany as Germany was the leading manufacturer of piano babies. It is thought to have been made in the early 1900's. The fashionable victorian parlor had a piano, on which folks loved to drape a flowing scarf over the piano and secure it with an adorable bisque baby. These piano babies were available in small, medium, and large sizes. These beguiling cuties sat, crawled, rolled on their backs, lay on their tummies, cried, or smiled. The finest examples were made by Heubach and were usually marked. The nunbers 6965 are on the base bottom. There is a crack 2 3/4" at the rear from the center of his spine extending to the right. The other crack is 2 1/4" and starts under his right thigh and extends underneath on the base.
